RC Celta says good-bye to the 2017/18 season with a thrashing against Lavente (4-2). The goals galore came accompanied by a bunch of records with Iago Aspas and Maxi Gomez as the main characters. The Galician and the Uruguayan have tied the 39 goals by Hermidita and Atienza, the highest scoring duo in the club’s history in one season in First Division. Moreover, Maxi Gomez has become Celta’s leading scorer in a debut season and Aspas tied Mauro as top scorer of Celta in one season in First Division (22).
Despite Celta’s command of the tempo of the match, Levante scored first. The away team got ahead on the scoreboard at the 12 minute mark and faced up to Celta in the beginning of the match. Maxi scored the draw at the 30 minute mark and just before halftime Aspas put the 2-1 one the scoreboard. After halftime Celta took full control. Aspas scored his second goal and short after Maxi his. In the final 20 minutes Levante cut Celta’s lead after a goal by Morales, with the final 4-2.
The last match of the season also saw Celta B player Dani Molina’s debut, playing his first minutes in the highest division. The young midfielder substituted Jozabed. Balaidos says good-bye to LaLiga play until next season.
