RC Celta dominated a very special match against a Valencia side that took the lead but the Celestes came from behind on an afternoon to make history.
The second day of LALIGA EA SPORTS pitted Claudio Giráldez’s side against Rubén Baraja’s side. In a match that the Celestes dominated from start to finish, but in which Los Che started by taking the lead with a goal from Diego López, in the 14th minute, after a corner kick.
However, our team continued to show that they wanted more, they were at home, on the day of their 101st anniversary and the moves to reach Mamardashvili’s goal followed one after the other. It was in the 25th minute when they managed to tie the game after a change of direction from Iago Aspas to Óscar Mingueza, who shot with his right foot past the Georgian goalkeeper. At that moment a comeback for the history would begin and, only 4 minutes later, RC Celta would manage to turn the game around. The king of the punts would put the second goal on the scoreboard after a great Celta play that allowed the player from Moaña to get inside the defence and beat the goalkeeper.
In the second half, everything continued in the same way. RC Celta continued to make merits to score the third and Valencia were unable to stop a team that was celebrating, comfortable in front of their fans. The fans packed the Abanca Balaídos stadium and were thrilled with the game their team was playing. Finally, it was a Fran Beltrán whip from the edge of the area that went into the top corner to put another goal on the scoreboard. A victory in front of all the Celta fans who stood up to give a standing ovation to a brave, fighting team, who fought from minute one. A team with a total commitment to local talent and in which up to nine home-grown players took to the pitch.
