Fer López, Estrella Galicia MVP of the month of February

RC Celta

Fer López has been recognised for the first time with the Estrella Galicia MVP award for the month of February, an award that distinguishes him as the best player of RC Celta during the last month. The sky blue fans have been in charge of choosing him by means of a vote, in which he won over his teammates Pablo Durán and Iago Aspas, thus consolidating his great form.

I want to thank the fans because their support is spectacular’, said Fer after receiving the award, showing his gratitude towards the fans. He also wanted to highlight the value of collective effort, recognising the importance of the support of his teammates and coaching staff, both from the first team and the reserve team, who ‘have helped me to become the person I am today’.

Since his debut in LaLiga last December against Mallorca FC, the player from Vigo has already made seven appearances for the first team, including two consecutive starts. Aware of the demands of the competition, he acknowledges that ‘the change is very noticeable, but I’m getting more and more used to the rhythm of the Primera División’.

February has been a very positive month for RC Celta, with epic moments such as the comeback against Real Betis at Abanca Balaídos. A match in which the midfielder, after coming on in the second half, was decisive in the Celta reaction. ‘I told Williot before he came on the pitch that we were going to make a mess of things and, luckily, we did,’ he recalls. Of course, the idyll with the fans was key, ‘when Fran scored the first and the fans got behind us, it was clear to me that we were going to come back’.

On the other hand, February has been a month in which the whole sky blue family has had to say goodbye to the Grada de Gol. A very emotional moment of which Fer recognises that ‘it was very nice to be able to say goodbye to that historic stand with a victory’.

Now RC Celta faces a very exciting month of March in which they hope to maintain the good dynamic, ‘I have full confidence in the team,’ he says, aware that they will be able to stand up to any rival.

Finally, the young canterano highlights the very important role that Celta fans play in every game even away from Abanca Balaídos, ‘in other stadiums you hear a lot of Celta fans and it’s something you feel very proud of’.

Undoubtedly, Fer López is in a very good sporting moment, showing his talent every time he takes the field and making all of us who are fortunate enough to see him fulfil the dream of his life every weekend enjoy it.

Congratulations, Fer!
