Celta Fortuna cannot get past a draw against Ourense CF in Barreiro in a closely contested, intense match with more chances than success. The Celeste reserve team had their clearest opportunity from the penalty spot, but the goal never came.
From the start, Fredi Álvarez’s side showed personality, seeking control and the opponent’s goal. Hugo González and Óscar Marcos created the first chances, but they were stopped by an inspired Álvaro Ratón, who was key throughout the match.
Ourense did not fall behind. They took advantage of their moments with pace down the wings and danger from set pieces, also forcing interventions from Coke Carrillo. The first half was a constant exchange, with high tempo and few pauses.
In the second half, the balance tipped slightly in favor of the Celeste side. Fortuna pressed, gained ground, and had several clear opportunities. Antañón came close with a powerful shot that hit the crossbar, and shortly after came the best chance of the match: a penalty in their favor after a VAR review. Hugo González took responsibility, but Álvaro Ratón guessed the shot and also saved the rebound.
The final stretch was a siege from Fortuna, who never stopped trying. Even with one player less due to Hugo Burcio’s red card, the team showed character until the final minute.
Although they did not earn all three points, the match leaves positive feelings and reasons for optimism. Among them were the large number of Celta fans who traveled to Barreiro to support the reserve team and the official debut of Cristian Carro, a youth player who made his first appearance with Fredi Álvarez’s squad in the final minutes, marking a special afternoon for the Celeste academy. Now, Fortuna is already looking ahead to the next challenge: visiting CD Lugo in a new Galician derby.
