Fran Beltrán was honored this Sunday before the match against FC Barcelona at Abanca Balaídos. The midfielder from Seseña reached 236 First Division appearances defending the sky-blue shirt in the last match against Levante UD at Ciutat de València, a figure that allows him to surpass club legend Alexander Mostovoi. With this new record, Beltrán becomes the third player with the most appearances in Celta’s history in the top flight, behind only Iago Aspas (382) and Hugo Mallo (309).
The recognition took place on the pitch, before the watchful eyes of more than 21,000 Celta fans who were waiting for the match to start. Sergio Álvarez, a Celta director, presented him with a commemorative shirt in recognition of his career and commitment to the club.
Since arriving in Vigo, Fran Beltrán has earned the affection and respect of all the fans thanks to his dedication and commitment to the club, and today, as one of the first team’s captains, he is already a legend and an example both on and off the pitch.
