Deportivo Alavés VS Celta (0-1) | SUMMARY AND GOALS | HIGHLIGHTS LALIGA EA SPORTS 25/26

RC Celta

Celta came away from Mendizorroza with an important win, a 1–0 victory from the penalty spot that strengthens the team’s good run away from home. Iago Aspas made no mistake in a decisive moment, and Claudio Giráldez’s side once again showed the step forward they’ve been taking in recent weeks. The match didn’t start smoothly, with Alavés more comfortable early on and Celta needing time to settle, but the visitors managed to control the tempo until they gained confidence on the ball and established themselves in the opposing half.

The first half was tight, full of battles and short on clear chances. Alavés tried to push in the opening minutes but without turning that into real danger. Celta responded calmly, looking to progress on the wings and keep the ball when possible, though it felt like the team needed a bit more pace to break the pattern of the game. The break arrived with everything still up in the air.

After halftime, things shifted. Celta came out with more intent, more determined to play in Alavés’ half and force the home side to run backwards. That pressure paid off when Aspas was brought down inside the box and the referee pointed to the spot. The captain stepped up and scored the 1–0 with composure. From there, Alavés pushed harder for an equaliser, but Celta protected their lead well, solid at the back and composed in the closing minutes.

With this win, the team gains confidence before turning its attention to the upcoming European match against Ludogorets. Afterwards, they will return to Abanca Balaídos to host Espanyol in the next league fixture, aiming to keep this positive momentum going.
