Javi Rueda extends his contract with Celta until 2029. The full-back, who arrived in Vigo in July 2023, will continue to defend the sky-blue shirt for four more seasons.
Trained in the youth academies of Málaga and Real Madrid, Javi Rueda made his debut in the top flight of Spanish football defending the sky-blue shirt on the last day of the 23/24 season against Valencia CF at Abanca Balaídos, after having signed a spectacular season with Celta Fortuna.
Last season, the defender played on loan at Albacete Balompié, a spell that allowed him to continue to grow before returning to stay in the first team. This season, in his first game as a starter, Javi made his debut as a goalscorer in the top flight, scoring against RCD Mallorca at Son Moix. He has now played more than 500 minutes between LaLiga and the Europa League, contributing three assists and one goal, confirming his upward trajectory at Celta.
His physical presence, speed, and ability to reach the back line make him a full-back who is fully adapted to modern soccer, qualities that Claudio Giráldez will continue to have at his disposal with this renewal, which reinforces Celta’s commitment to a player with great potential.
Congratulations, Javi!
