As Celtas is entering a new phase with a restructuring aimed at strengthening its youth academy and increasing competitiveness. David Ferreiro will become the new head coach of the first team, while Vicky Vázquez will take charge of the reserve side to lead the development of the club’s players.
The coach, who managed As Celtas Sporting this season, now takes on the challenge of leading the first team, continuing a project that is on a clear upward trajectory with youth development at its core.
Ferreiro is no stranger to As Celtas. During last season—the club’s first ever—he was part of the coaching staff as assistant coach, working alongside Vicky Vázquez in a memorable campaign in which the team achieved promotion to Segunda RFEF.
This season, the Vigo-born coach has been in charge of As Celtas Sporting, overseeing an excellent campaign in which the team finished top of the table. This collective effort was recognized last Sunday at Abanca Balaídos, where the team and coaching staff, together with Celta’s Juvenil A and B sides, received a well-deserved tribute from the fans.
Vicky Vázquez to lead As Celtas Sporting
With this restructuring, Vicky Vázquez will take charge of As Celtas Sporting, where she will bring her knowledge and experience to continue driving the growth of the youth academy—an essential pillar of the club’s present and future. The aim is to maintain a model in which development and homegrown talent play a leading role.
The club has full confidence in both and wishes them every success in this new stage.
