Celta and Matías Vecino have reached an agreement to terminate the Uruguayan midfielder’s contract with the club. Vecino, who still had one year remaining on his contract, arrived in Vigo last January from Lazio.
With a distinguished career behind him, Matías made his official debut for Celta against RCD Espanyol and, a few days later, also made his debut in the Europa League Round of 32 against PAOK.
During his time in Vigo, the player consistently demonstrated exemplary conduct and commitment to the club’s project. Furthermore, his experience and track record led him to play a very important role in the dressing room, serving as a role model and source of support for the younger players.
Celta would like to thank him for his professionalism and commitment during these months and wish him all the best in this new chapter of his career.
