Celta’s new defender, Sebastián Cáceres, was presented this Wednesday at the Cidade Deportiva Afouteza, where he spoke to the media in a press conference. The Uruguayan acknowledged that his move to Vigo was “a complex process”, although he was always clear that “we all wanted it to happen”, and it eventually became a reality.
Accompanied by club director Sergio Álvarez and Marco Garcés, the club’s Director of Football, the Uruguayan explained that the team’s playing philosophy was one of the main reasons behind his decision to make the move: “to take the initiative and play out from the back”. He also highlighted the positive references he received from several teammates and said he is “in the right place”.
Cáceres also arrives in good physical condition and eager to adapt as quickly as possible to Claudio Giráldez’s demands. “I’m going to give everything I have to do it as quickly as possible and contribute to the team wherever I’m needed,” he said.
Speaking about what he can bring to the team, the defender highlighted his “aggressiveness when pressing”, a key aspect as he begins his first experience in European football. A new challenge that starts with confidence, hard work and a strong desire to keep growing.
