Celta Fortuna failed to return to winning ways against CE Sabadell at Abanca Balaídos, yet they displayed a more solid and competitive side, particularly regarding their direct play, an area that had been a major issue in recent matchdays.
The Celta youth team took the lead after five minutes thanks to Álvaro Marín; quick to capitalize on a gift from the visiting defense, he found himself one-on-one with the Sabadell goalkeeper and made no mistake, firing home a powerful shot. The striker, now with three goals in the division, once again made his mark on a team that fielded four new starters, including Seyni Ndiaye, who was making his debut in the starting eleven at this level. Sabadell responded quickly to the setback, finding an equalizer just before the half-hour mark via a set-piece.
After the break, the opposition created chances, but Fortuna responded with firmer defending and utilized Kibet’s transitions to threaten the rival box. Fredi Álvarez’s men pushed until the end for a winning goal and nearly found it in stoppage time, when Ángel Arcos had the clearest opportunity to make it 2–1.
It wasn’t to be, but Celta Fortuna secured a hard-earned point in a demanding match, one also affected by the numerous absences the team is dealing with during this FIFA international break. Beyond the result, the debut of another “Feito na Madroa” talent stands out: youth player Jorge Pérez-Lafuente, who played his first minutes in the division and made a very positive impression.
