Celta drew 1-1 with Santa Clara this Friday in a training match held at the Cidade Deportiva Afouteza, a fixture taken advantage of by the team during the international break.
Claudio Giráldez’s side controlled the game for large spells, although the Portuguese side also created some chances. After Santa Clara took the lead through Brener in the 19th minute, Aleix Febas levelled the score just three minutes later with a shot from the edge of the box.
The pattern remained the same after the break, with Celta controlling the game and looking for a second goal, but the scoreline would remain unchanged.
The friendly brought to an end a week that once again served to strengthen the ties between Celta and Portugal and marked the conclusion of the latest international break. The Sky Blues will return to domestic competition next Sunday, 11 October, with a trip to Elche’s Martínez Valero.
