Focused on achieving the three points and on reaching the first position of the group, Celta receives today in Balaídos (19:00h) Ajax, a historical of the European football that arrives in Vigo after winning its first two fixtures during UEFA Europa League’s groups stage against Panathinaikos (1-2) and Standard de Liège (1-0).

Win again

Celta, after four consecutive victories against Sporting, Espanyol, Panathinaikos and FC Barcelona, will try to compensate Sunday’s match against Villarreal. The team will try its best to repeat the victory achieved in the previous one against the Dutch team in Balaídos, played during the UEFA Champions League 2003/2004, to handle the visit to the Amsterdam Arena next November 3rd as the leader of the group.

However, achieving the victory in Vigo and adding the second victory as local in this European competition will not be easy. Ajax added this Sunday its seventh consecutive victory in the Dutch league after winning against ADO Den Haag (0-2), with Davy Klaassen and Bertrand Traoré’s goals, remaining as the second classified after Feyenoord, strong leader after not missing any point of nine matches.

Peter Bosz’s team will seek to continue this streak and strengthen its good beginning of the season, having the possibility to increase the advantage over Celta from five points. The Dutch coach has decided to travel to Vigo with 19 players, and despite Lasse Schöne and Kenny Tete’s absences, Bosz believes that “the team is in excellent conditions and prepared to face the match”.

Meanwhile, the blue coach brought back Pablo Hernández and John Guidetti, but Marcelo Díaz and Beauvue will not be playing because of injury. Following a technical decision, Iago Aspas, Hugo Mallo, Bongonda, Naranjo y Cabral will be out for the match, so the argentine coach will have 18 players to face Ajax: Sergio, Fontás, Costas, Radoja, Pablo Hernández, Guidetti, Sisto, Rubén Blanco, Orellana, Lemos, Wass, Jonny, Sergi Gómez, Planas, Señé, Roncaglia, Rossi and Pape Cheikh.

Berizzo’s team has the support of Balaídos to face this important match with only one goal: achieving the three points and stand at the top of the leaderboard.
