Real Betis took control of the first half. The andalusians kept ball possession and had two great chances to score if it were not for an outstanding performance by Sergio Alvarez between the sticks. Celta reacted before half-time and almost got ahead on the scoreboard. Bongonda had an unsurpassable one-on-one situation against the andalusian goalkeeper in which he was unable to score.

In the second half, when Celta seemed to have improved, came the goal by the away team. Brasanac headed into the net an inviting delivery from the left flank. Berizzo used the bench to try to turn the score around putting Beauvue, Wass and Jonny in the match.

Celta tried hard until the last minute, almost scoring the drawing goal, but was not able to come back after a poor first half. Next Thursday at 8:30 pm Celta will go against another team from Seville, Sevilla FC, playing its 34th LaLiga first division fixture.
