Celta returns to Europe for the tenth season in its history, proud to carry its most representative hallmarks across the continent. That is why tonight, during the captains’ greeting prior to the Stuttgart-Celta match, in addition to the usual pennant, a very special gift will be presented to the German team: a traditional tambourine, a symbol of Galician culture, handmade by Vigo craftsman Miguel Rivas.
This initiative will be repeated in all the matches Celta plays this season in the Europa League. The pieces, made exclusively for this occasion, are made of locally sourced cherry wood, bent by hand, and feature four pairs of tempered rattles. They are also engraved with the names of both teams and the date of the match.
With these gifts, and taking advantage of the great showcase that is the Europa League, Celta wants to share a part of its roots with the clubs it encounters, in a gesture that unites football, culture and tradition.
