Thanks, Presi! Carlos Mouriño closes his tenure at the helm of the club and is proposed as honorary president of RC Celta

RC Celta

Carlos Mouriño Atanes, president of RC Celta since 2006, brings an end to his long and emblematic tenure at the helm of the Celeste entity. Seventeen years in which RC Celta underwent an unparalleled transformation, a process of growth and professionalization during which countless milestones were achieved in the club’s history.

The now former Celta president bids farewell, leaving an indelible legacy on which the future RC Celta will be built: twelve consecutive seasons at the highest level of Spanish football, the second-best historical record of the Vigo team; a project based on the youth academy that fills Celta fans with pride and has promoted, year after year, top-level homegrown players; the economic recovery of the club, a strenuous effort that took RC Celta from the insolvency process to a financial solidity that is a reference in the world of sports; and the creation of the club’s own assets, a feat highlighted by the construction of the Headquarters building and the Afouteza Sports City, key elements in providing even more consistency to Celta’s future.

It was a management full of reason and passion in equal parts, a period that will undoubtedly be remembered as key in the club’s history and deserves recognition. Therefore, during the celebration of the General Shareholders’ Meeting, it was proposed to appoint Carlos Mouriño as honorary president of the entity, a tribute that represents the final touch to his trajectory at the helm of RC Celta.

The work carried out by Mouriño during these seventeen years was possible thanks to the support and commitment of a board of directors that also bids farewell to the management of the club, a governing body that in its last stage was formed by five councilors who deserve all the gratitude of the Celta family: Ricardo Barros (first vice-president), Pedro Posada (second vice-president), Primitivo Ferro (councilor), Carmen Avendaño (councilor), María José Táboas (councilor), and Fernando Rodilla (councilor).
