Iago Aspas, winner of the XII Manuel de Castro Trophy “Handicap” by Estrella Galicia

Iago Aspas has won the XII Manuel de Castro “Handicap” Trophy by Estrella Galicia, which recognizes the best Celta player during the year 2022. It will be the eighth award for the Moañes striker, who has been awarded in 2012, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022, and who shares the podium in this edition with Joseph Aidoo and Fran Beltrán, who occupy the second and third positions, respectively.

The XII Manuel de Castro “Handicap” Trophy by Estrella Galicia was originally created by the websites Moiceleste and El Fútbol es Celeste, together with the Peña Celtista Siareiros.net. and that in this 12th edition was launched from the club. The trophy, created in honor of the late Celtista journalist and featuring the classic design created by Simón Agulla, gathers the votes of fans, supporters, journalists and the players themselves.

Iago Aspas will receive his award at Abanca Balaídos this Sunday, February 12 in the lead-up to the match against Atlético de Madrid and will be accompanied by one of the Celtista fans who participated in the voting. The award will be presented by Juan de Castro and Pedro de Castro, grandsons of Manuel de Castro, Hándicap, precursor of the foundation of the club in 1923 when Vigo Sporting and Fortuna merged to create the RC Celta.
