Home-grown player Iván Villar will remain with RC Celta until June 2027, marking 20 seasons with the Vigo club, which he joined in 2007 in the youth category. The Celta goalkeeper finalized his contract renewal yesterday at A Sede with the club’s president, Marián Mouriño, and the Director of Football, Marco Garcés.
This season, the goalkeeper from Aldán has played 12 matches, totaling over 1000 minutes, while last season he played in a total of 21 games. Iván Villar made his debut with Celta’s reserve team at 16 years old and with the first team in 2017 in Mendizorroza.
Iván stated, “This is my home; I’ve been here since I was nine years old. I am filled with pride to have gone through all the categories of RC Celta and to wear the first team’s jersey.” “I hope to be as good an example for the next generations as the academy references I had. It’s been 20 years, but I hope there are many more,” concluded the Celta goalkeeper.
