A record-breaking season: Celta secure their fifteenth consecutive season in the top flight

RC Celta

Celta will continue to write their history in the top flight of Spanish football. The Sky Blues have mathematically secured their place in LaLiga EA Sports with four matches remaining, thereby securing their fifteenth consecutive season in the top flight – the club’s longest run in the top division. This milestone has already gone down in the club’s history and reflects the sustained growth of a project that continues to move forward.

The victory over Elche CF at Abanca Balaídos helped seal a goal that is never easy, but which has been achieved this season with a different feeling. Far from the struggles of previous campaigns, the team has had, and continues to have, a courageous and ambitious season, full of Afouteza and Corazón. A style of football that has connected with the stands from the very first minute and has allowed the team to look up the table for much of the season, currently occupying an exciting sixth place.

Beyond LaLiga, the 2025/26 season will be remembered for its European dimension. The return to continental competition, eight years on, has not only been a dream come true, but a competitive reality. The team has managed to balance the demands of the league and European competition, reaching the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League and competing with character in the most demanding of settings. A step forward that speaks volumes about the character of this squad.

And along the way, the role of Celta’s supporters has, once again, been decisive. Abanca Balaídos has been more passionate than ever, and the fans have followed the team wherever it has played, turning every stadium in Spain and Europe sky blue. In the best of times and the worst of times, the support from the stands has been the driving force that has sustained the team.

Fifteen consecutive seasons in the First Division. A record-breaking figure that cements Celta’s status as the Galician club with the longest spell in the top flight and brings its total number of seasons in the top tier of Spanish football to 61. A collective achievement that belongs to the players, the coaching staff, the club and, above all, to a fanbase that never lets us down, that is always there.

The journey continues. And it does so with the certainty that, together, we will end the season on a high note.
