Well-played Celta match Celta in Sevilla, with a great outburst and first half full of intensity. In the beginning of the second half, the local team scored, then Iago Aspas hit the back of the net for the draw and immediately Tucu Hernandez was thrown off the pitch, which was a game changer. The local squad scored the winning goal close to full time in the face of an ambitious, brave and tough Celta squad.
Great staging on behalf of Celta in Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, playing at a high pace, a lot of ambition and great chances to score from the starting whistle. Celta’s good play did not have any effect on the scoreboard and after 21 minutes, a hard punishment was about to come with a header by Iborra which hit the woodwork after a delivery from the left flank. The play stimulated the local team, which improved its performance and equaled the clash.
It was a disputed first half, with fierce press on behalf of both teams and high intensity. In the final minutes before halftime, the referee did not see an obvious hand ball after a shot from Sisto.
After halftime, in the second minute, Sevilla got ahead thanks to a prolonged overhead ball which Correa took advantage of to score. A few minutes later, the referee signalled a penalty on Guidetti scored by Iago Aspas. After seven minutes of halftime play, the match was a draw again. At least on the scoreboard, because a few moments later Tucu Hernandez was shown a second yellow card and Celta was man down.
The skyblues realigned and defended soundly through the following minutos, although the local squad, needing the three points, took control and advantage of ball possession. Sevilla hit the woodwork twice, one of them after Sergio pulled off a great save.
Thirty minutes into the second half, Celta made a great play and Wass shot from outside the penalty area going out very close to Sergio Rico’s right stick. And right after, Ben Yedder hit the net after a strike inside the penalty area. Celta finished the match on the attack looking for the draw that never came.
