Iago Aspas and Maxi Gómez said farewell to the season scoring two goals each in Celta’s 4-2 win over Levante. With these goals they have broken some of Celta’s historic records.
With 22 goals scored in the 2017/18, Iago Aspas becomes the team’s maximum scorer in a season in First Division tied with the great Mauro. Moreover, the player from Moaña is alongside Maxi the most lethal duo in one season in Celta’s history with 39 goals in 38 league matchdays, tied with the scoring couple formed by Hermidita and Atienza in the 1951/52 season.
The Uruguayan can also brag about individual records. With 17 goals, Maxi is the RC Celta’s player with most goals scored in his first season, surpassing names like Catanha, Amarildo, Nolito or Penev. He also holds a place in the podium of the league rookies in First Division, only behind Cristiano Ronaldo (26) and Falcao (24). Maxi also scored this league’s 1000 goal.
