Celta paid for its inaccuracies in a slippery Anoeta and were two goals behind at the start of the second half. Maxi Gomez scored the Celta goal and gave hope, but the comeback was not possible.
It was a first half marked by inaccuracies and slips. In one of those the Real Sociedad’s goal arrived and also in one of these plays Celta’s best chance was frustrated. Oyárzabal took advantage at the 36 minute mark, with a shot from the front of the area, a series of rejections started after a mistake in the ball exit. Before, Iago Aspas slipped in a one-on-one against Moya and the excellent chance generated by a great cross from Hjusager.
The sky-blues always tried to get the ball out on a field in very poor conditions and a fierce pressure of a rival who had several occasions before scoring in the final stretch of the first half.
After half-time, Zurutuza’s header and cross from the left. Two minutes had passed. It was a hard blow that Celta accused. It kept its game plan, with changes on the attack, but it was difficult to create scoring chances. In the final stretch, the sky-blue turned to attack and with seven minutes to go, Maxi Gomez headed into the net after a cross from Brais.
