Celta rounded off the week with a goalless draw against Betis at Abanca Balaídos. In a match featuring chances for both sides, the Sky Blues took the initiative for much of the game and had opportunities to take the lead, but they came up against Álvaro Valles, who kept them at bay.
After returning from Glasgow with their first Europa League win, Claudio Giráldez’s side took to the Balaídos pitch determined to control the game. Celta found space and created danger, particularly through Hugo González and Pablo Durán, but Valles made several good saves to keep the score level at half-time.
Betis stepped up after the break and began to threaten the Celta penalty area more frequently. The visitors were not content with a draw and looked for a goal through Parrott, while the Vigo side were also keen to claim all three points and tried their luck through Aspas. However, neither side managed to take the lead.
With this draw, Celta add another point to their LaLiga EA Sports tally and turn their attention to their next fixture, their Copa del Rey debut. The Sky Blues will visit Salamanca CF UDS this Wednesday, 28 October, with kick-off at 9:00 pm at the Helmántico stadium.
