Following their draw against Red Star Belgrade in the final Europa League group stage match, Celta now knows their opponent for the Round of 32.
This afternoon, the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland, hosted the draw that determined the pairings for the next round of the continental tournament. The Galician side faced two possible opponents: PAOK Thessaloniki or LOSC Lille. Finally, fate has pitted Celta against the Greek team in this tie, which will be decided in the second leg at Abanca Balaídos, in front of our fans, always a decisive factor in this type of competition. The Round of 32 matches will be played on February 19th and 26th.
PAOK will not be an unfamiliar opponent for Celta. The two teams already faced each other during the group stage, specifically in the second match, also played at the Celta stadium, where Claudio Giráldez’s men secured a 3-1 victory.
Now, in a two-legged tie with much more at stake, Celta will look to reclaim their style of play and rely on the support of their fans to continue their European campaign.
