Celta earned a point on their visit to the Coliseum after drawing 1-1 against Getafe CF, in a match in which the Sky Blues showed character to come from behind, although not on the scoreboard. Martín Satriano put the hosts ahead in the first half, while Carl Starfelt scored the equaliser after the break.
Claudio Giráldez’s side started with personality and created the first chances of the afternoon. However, Getafe took the lead through Satriano, who capitalised on a set-piece situation.
After the restart, the Sky Blues also found their reward from a set piece. Hugo González delivered a precise corner and Starfelt rose highest to head home the equaliser in the 57th minute.
The match opened up even further in Celta’s favour in the 67th minute, when Zaid Romero was shown a second yellow card. With an extra player on the pitch, Celta pushed hard for a second goal, but could not find the winner.
The Sky Blues now turn their attention to Abanca Balaídos, where they will look for their first win of the season against Málaga CF. The match will be played next Sunday, 13 September, at 2:00pm.
