Iago Aspas’ superb performance against FC Barcelona (2-2) came with a new milestone for the Galician in the history of RC Celta. Against FC Barcelona, the skyblue home-grown player scored his twentieth goal in LaLiga in the 2017/18 season, becoming the first footballer in the Vigo team to reach this figure since the 1956/57 season. In that season, Mauro recorded a total of 24 goals in the First Division, which is still the all-time record of a Celta player in the First Division Spanish football.
Aspas has already surpassed his own best scoring record in a season (19 in the 2016/17) and adds 118 goals with RC Celta in official matches, only one goal away from catching up with two of the club’s legends: Tapia and Hermidita.
