RC Celta and Kevin Vázquez have closed by mutual agreement the early termination of the contract of the second captain of the first team.
The canterano, very loved by all the fans, puts an end to his career as a player of RC Celta after a lifetime linked to the club. Born in Camos (Nigrán), he arrived at A Madroa as a child and, since then, he has gone through different categories of the youth team becoming an example of perseverance, effort and struggle to fulfil his dream: ‘to be a player of RC Celta’.
A constancy with which he has carved out a career at the club that positions him as a Celta legend. In February 2010 he made his debut for Celta B against SD Eibar and, in August 2011, he made his debut as a starter against CD Lugo. In the same season he joined the reserve team, where he stayed for 8 seasons, becoming the player with more games played in the history of Celta B (161) and also with more captainships (69). In the 2018/19 season he became part of the first team squad, making his debut against Real Sociedad at Abanca Balaídos. In total, he played 82 games in the First Division and scored a goal in the Copa del Rey against CD Algar.
To remember Kevin Vázquez’s career at the club is to mention the perseverance and tenacity of a player who defended the Celta shield for more than 18,000 minutes. A person who has always perfectly represented the roots and the philosophy that makes RC Celta proud. Values for which he has been captain of the reserve team and the first team, being an example of discipline, commitment and leadership.
RC Celta would like to thank him for the dedication, involvement and love he has shown for this club, which will always be his home, and wish him every success in his future projects.
See you always, captain!
