Celta completed their final preseason test with a hard-fought victory away to Wolverhampton (0-1), in a match where the Galician side showed clear ideas and a strong sense of purpose.
From the opening whistle, the team appeared well-organized and confident, opting for a game plan based on effective pressing and well-executed transitions. However, the Celestes couldn’t find the net in the first half.
The goal that decided the match came after the break, in a well-worked move between Iago Aspas and Fran Beltrán, which Pablo Durán converted into the lead with a fine finish inside the box. It was the reward for a disciplined performance from Celta, who adapted to the opponent’s rhythm and demands without abandoning their style.
The second half also saw minutes for the newly signed Bryan Zaragoza, who made his first appearance in the sky-blue shirt.
With the scoreboard in their favor, the Vigo side managed the final stretch without major scares, maintaining focus and denying the English team space.
Beyond the result, the win confirms the team’s progress during the summer preparation and leaves the squad ready to face the start of LaLiga with confidence. The campaign kicks off next Sunday at Abanca Balaídos against Getafe CF.
