RC Celta falls in overtime against RCD Espanyol (3-1)

RC Celta

The RC Celta closes its participation in this edition of the Copa del Rey with a defeat (2-1) in extra time against RCD Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium.

The match started with a goal by Paciência fifteen minutes into the game, a first half in which the Celts managed to maintain their lead until the break.

After the restart, a renewed Espanyol got the equalizer through Puado, who put the tie back on the scoreboard. A draw that, despite the exchange of blows from both teams, would force an extra time in which Sergi Darder’s goal in the 97th minute would ultimately be definitive. Melamed, in the final minutes, would seal the game with the 3-1.

The next Celeste match will be this Friday, January 6 at 18:30 against Elche CF at the Martínez Valero, a match corresponding to the 16th matchday of LaLiga 22/23.
