The academy Rubén Blanco extends its link with the RC Celta, club to which he arrived as a child, in first year of infantile category. The Mosense goalkeeper stars in the first renewal of the season after extending his contract until June 2027.
Rubén Blanco made his debut in an official match with the first team on May 26, 2013, a match that will be forever in the memory of celtismo. At just 17 years of age, the academy player took the field at Zorrilla in place of the injured Javi Varas and put in a fantastic performance to secure a key victory to achieve permanence in that 4% season.
Since then, Rubén has played 120 more games in the First Division for a total of 142 matches in the sky blue jersey in the League, Cup and UEFA League.
“I am very happy. This is my home, I feel very comfortable, today is a very happy day for me,” commented Rubén, who stressed that “it’s been 9 years in the first team and I’ve always said, as long as the club doesn’t tell me otherwise I’ll be delighted to be here. It is a source of pride for any child to reach the first team”.
Regarding the approaching centenary and living it as a sky blue, the academy player indicated that “there are very beautiful years ahead for the club and also for the city and I think we have to face them with enthusiasm and optimism”.
