RC Celta and Sergio Carreira have reached an agreement to extend his contract for four more seasons. The right-back, trained at A Madroa, will continue to defend the Celta shirt after sealing his commitment to the club that saw him grow up.
Sergio Carreira arrived in the youth teams of RC Celta as a child and since then he has become an example of hard work, perseverance and effort, values that perfectly represent the sky-blue youth categories. On 17 October 2020, the young defender would fulfil his dream of making his debut with the first team in Laliga and he did it as a starter against Atlético de Madrid in Abanca Balaídos. It was precisely his effort and tenacity that led him to consolidate his place in the first team this season, standing out for his defensive solidity and providing balance on the right flank. In total there have been more than 1,800 minutes in which he has left 4 assists that demonstrate his great ability to join the attack and generate danger from the right flank, becoming a very important piece within the sky-blue scheme.
At 24 years of age, Sergio has completed a season of great growth that confirms his excellent form and projection to which he now puts the perfect icing on the cake by sealing his continuity in the team until 2029.
For RC Celta, his renewal not only strengthens the squad, but represents the essence of a project that puts the focus on the talent that resides in the youth system and shows that this is also about heart.
