Sergio Carreira becomes the Estrella Galicia MVP of the month of November

RC Celta

If one name had to be singled out from last November, sky-blue fans would have no doubt: Sergio Carreira. The homegrown player was named Estrella Galicia MVP for the month, beating Borja Iglesias and Pablo Durán in the voting. This award, given by the Celta faithful, highlights the values of hard work and a drive for excellence shared by both the iconic beer from Hijos de Rivera and Celta Vigo itself.

Delighted with this recognition, Carreira expressed his gratitude for the support he received and the hard work of the entire squad: “Thank you so much to the fans for their votes that made this award possible, and to the whole team for helping me achieve it.” The Celta full-back maintains a very special connection with the fans, whom he feels increasingly close to: “It’s wonderful how much the fans appreciate me, and how much I appreciate them too.”

Last November brought many special moments for the young academy player, but if he had to highlight one, it would undoubtedly be his goal against FC Barcelona at Abanca Balaídos, which he admits gave him “a lot of confidence for that match and for all the ones that followed.”

Sergio Carreira received his first Estrella Galicia MVP award just days after experiencing a match that neither he nor any sky blue fan will ever forget: Celta’s historic victory at the Santiago Bernabéu after 19 years. “It was a beautiful day for us and for everyone, for the club… we are very proud of the work we’ve done.”

With the first half of the season practically over, the player gives a positive assessment of the team and looks ahead with optimism. “We are very much alive in all competitions and very confident heading into the second half of the season.”

In this way, Sergio Carreira closes out a November in which he demonstrated extraordinary performance, now reinforced by the recognition of the entire Celta community.

Congratulations, Sergio!
