RC Celta is putting the final touches to what will be its preseason for LALIGA EA SPORTS 2024/25. The first team will travel to Portugal to play against SL Benfica on 13 July at 20h CEST. The match, which will be played at the Estadio Municipal de Águeda, can be followed live on RC Celta’s YouTube channel.
Claudio Giráldez’s side will face a historic side in the Portuguese top flight, one of the only three teams that have never been relegated from the top flight, along with Porto and Sporting Lisbon.
SL Benfica is the most successful club in domestic competitions in the neighbouring country. It has won a record 37 Portuguese League Championships and 26 Portuguese Cups, 7 Portuguese League Cups, 8 Portuguese Super Cups and 3 Portuguese Championships. At international level, he has won two consecutive European Cups, in 1961 and 1962, and a European Latin Cup in 1950. He has also been runner-up in the European Cup in 1963, 1965, 1968, 1988 and 1990, and in the Europa League in 1983, 2013 and 2014. It is a list of achievements for which it is known as El Glorioso and which places it as one of the best teams at European level.
The first team of RC Celta will kick off its pre-season with a top level match against the team coached by Roger Schmidt, with the aim of preparing the best way for the next season.
