The Fernández generation, a legacy that makes history at Celta

RC Celta

This past weekend against RCD Mallorca, Manu Fernández made his official debut with Celta’s first team, thus completing a unique family trilogy. Grandson of Manuel Fernández Amado and son of Manel Fernández Anidos, Manu is the third generation to defend Celta’s crest in the first division, an unprecedented event in the club’s history.

When Manu Fernández took to the pitch at Son Moix, it was not just a simple debut for the young centre-back, it was the pure representation of a feeling of heritage that is difficult to explain. The purest meaning of what it means to be part of Celta.

At the age of 23, Manu took the step he had dreamed of so many times since childhood, as a member of Celta Fortuna and now as a player for the first team. His debut was the result of perseverance, hard work and sacrifice in pursuit of a dream, following in footsteps that go beyond football.

His grandfather did it in the 1970s. His father did it in the 1990s. And now, on the same day that the club celebrated its 102nd anniversary, it was his turn to write a new page with the heart and soul that give meaning to everything. Three generations united by the same crest. A club that has always been family.
