UD Las Palmas vs RC Celta(0-1) | Summary and goals | Highlights LALIGA EA SPORTS

RC Celta

RC Celta played a great match against UD Las Palmas in this ninth round of LALIGA EA SPORTS. A match that promised to be very intense and lacked nothing. A lot of intensity and two totally different halves were key to the stoic victory of the sky blue team in Gran Canaria.

In the early stages of the match, both teams showed the eagerness with which they had taken the field, sharing the ball and also the attacks. It was from the quarter of an hour when Claudio Giráldez’s team took possession of the Pío-Pío stadium and began to dominate on their own. In the 16th minute, a colossal Óscar Mingueza put a cross into the area that Borja Iglesias hit the post, but Williot Swedberg took advantage of the rebound to score the first goal. A first sky blue goal that, finally did not go up to the scoreboard due to a millimetrically advanced position of the striker from Santiago de Compostela. First clear warning of a RC Celta that was looking for its first away victory and that was not going to allow them to snatch it.

The match continued with a recital by Hugo Álvarez, demonstrating daring and technique in every one-on-one situation. A very good performance by the young youth player who, recently called up to the Spanish U-21 national team, drove Viti Rozada crazy down the flank.

Nearing the half hour mark, Borja Iglesias was able to read between the lines and draw the ball to take advantage of a new cross from Óscar Mingueza and send it into the back of the net. A perfect connection between the two players that would result in a very valuable goal that, this time, would go up on the scoreboard.

At the start of the second half, the match took a 180º turn. With a difference of only three minutes, Ilaix Moriba and Iago Aspas were sent off after accumulating double yellow cards, leaving RC Celta with nine players on the pitch. A clear numerical inferiority with which the sky blue team had to face the remaining 30 minutes of the match.

From that moment on, Claudio Giráldez’s team gave a master class on how to defend the result with claws and teeth. A real team that united in the face of adversity and fought until the final whistle, and not only defending the result but also continuing to generate dangerous chances.

A lot of honor and pride for all the sky blue players who defended this shield until the last minute at the Gran Canaria stadium, winning the first away victory of the season and adding three very valuable points that place RC Celta in the Top 10 of the First Division Historical Classification.
