Williot Swedberg received the Laliga EA Sports Best Under-23 Player award for December from Vlado Gudelj at Abanca Balaídos, ahead of Celta’s victory over Rayo Vallecano.
Cheered on by the entire sky-blues fans, the Swedish striker received his first award of the season in recognition of his excellent form throughout the past month, which helped Celta earn 7 out of a possible 9 points, confirming the team’s positive momentum.
Williot Swedberg was the star of Celta’s historic victory at the Santiago Bernabéu, scoring both goals in the match. His excellent form continued in the following match against Athletic Club, in which he scored again and was decisive in securing what would be the first victory of the season in the domestic competition at Abanca Balaídos.
The award, presented by LaLiga together with Riyadh Season, highlights his influence in attacking play, his ability to unbalance opponents and his constant growth despite his youth. In the final vote, Swedberg beat Marc Pubill (Atlético de Madrid), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Jan Virgili (RCD Mallorca) and Héctor Fort (Elche CF).
