Borja Iglesias has been chosen by Celta fans as the first winner of the Estrella Galicia MVP award of the season, which recognizes Celta’s best player in September. The striker beat Andrei Radu and Iago Aspas in the voting, confirming his great form since his definitive return to Vigo.
“I expected to do well, but not to be so successful. I’m very happy about that and eager to continue on this path,” said Borja upon receiving the award. ‘Panda’ emphasized that he is “very proud and very happy” about his scoring streak, although he acknowledges that “I would like it to come with better results and more victories, but we will work to achieve that.”
The Galician also spoke about the start of the season, which he described as “special, different, and a little tougher because of the travel and schedules, but very exciting.” With the team competing in La Liga, the Europa League, and the Copa del Rey, Borja confessed that “playing with Celta in Europe is very special. I thought I might not get to experience it in my career. I’m very excited about this moment that we’re sharing with the fans and the squad.“ Regarding the Copa, he said that it is ”a special competition, complex, but very exciting and with high expectations.”
Before closing, he had words of gratitude for the fans. “Thank you for everything and I encourage you to continue supporting us. I’m sure there will be many things to enjoy together,” he said.
Congratulations, Borja!
