Celta Fortuna defeated SD Ponferradina 2–0 in a match that Fredi Álvarez’s side gradually took control of as the minutes went by. Goals from Óscar Marcos in the 75th minute and Bernard Somuah in the 89th secured three important points for the Celeste reserves, who remain unbeaten at Abanca Balaídos.
The first half had little rhythm and was full of interruptions. Fortuna struggled in their build-up play, while a more physical Ponferradina forced several fouls that resulted in yellow cards. Clear chances were scarce, and the most notable moment was Anthony Khayat’s first start with the team.
After the break, Fortuna stepped forward and Hugo González threatened immediately as the second half began. Ponferradina replied soon after, but Coke kept the team alive with two crucial saves. And just when the match seemed to have settled, Óscar Marcos surprised everyone by opening the scoring with a superb strike. With the lead in hand and Ponferradina throwing themselves forward in search of an equaliser, Somuah exploited the space to seal the win with a brilliant goal.
The victory strengthens the team’s upward momentum as they now turn their attention to their next fixture against Real Avilés, where they will look to build on these three points.
