SonDeSeu to Perform Madonna in the Celta vs Real Madrid Pre-Game Show

RC Celta

Celta continues to champion Galician culture and music with a new performance at Abanca Balaídos. The prelude to the Celta vs Real Madrid match will become a stage of roots and tradition thanks to SonDeSeu’s performance.

The Folk Orchestra of Galicia is pausing momentarily from preparations for its 25th Anniversary Concert to join Celta’s cultural initiative and pay a historical tribute by participating in the search for the celeste jersey Madonna wore at Balaídos during her 1990 concert. Yes, that jersey. The one belonging to the legend. The one someone, somewhere, keeps tucked away in a drawer.

This collaboration between Celta and SonDeSeu will take a musical form through the performance of a song by the American artist in the pre-game show, as a gesture of affection towards Madonna. But there’s more. Beyond being a break from rehearsals for the orchestra, it’s a historic stylistic pause: it will be the first time in 25 years that SonDeSeu tackles a pop song. After a quarter century devoted to Galician music, Madonna achieves something no one had managed before: making it into the Orchestra’s repertoire and filling Abanca Balaídos with her music.

The performance will feature arrangements by Mat Amy and Anxo Pintos, tasked with adapting Madonna’s song to the language of Galician tradition, demonstrating how our musical roots can converse with international icons without losing their essence.

For Celta, it is a source of pride that, while finalizing their 25th Anniversary celebrations featuring artists such as Tanxugueiras, Rodrigo Romaní, Abraham Cupeiro, and Xabier Díaz, SonDeSeu actively participates in the search for this iconic jersey. The club wants to remind fans to arrive early at the Celeste temple tomorrow to experience a unique moment where tradition, roots, and modernity come together in perfect harmony.
