The city of Vigo was once again awash in sky blue during an unforgettable day marking the ninth edition of Invasión Celeste by Profand, the popular and charitable race organized by the Fundación Celta. Nearly 3,000 participants of all ages joined this great celebration of Celta spirit, held in a fantastic atmosphere under bright sunshine.
This year’s edition introduced important new features, including the addition of a walking category (“andaina”) and an inclusive race, supported by Celta Integra Zelnova and led by members of DisCamino, further reinforcing the open, participatory, and charitable nature of the event.
The starting gun was fired at 10:00 a.m. for the 5 km and 10 km races, followed later by the events held entirely inside ABANCA Balaídos: the 1 km race and the Chiquiceltas races. The course took participants through some of Vigo’s main streets, transforming the heart of the city into a true sky-blue stage. The longest race also included a stretch along the Lagares riverside path, enhancing the sporting experience with a natural setting.
The starting point, located on Rúa do Príncipe near A Sede, was marked by an outstanding atmosphere. Thousands of fans, most wearing the official race shirt, sang the anthem “Oliveira dos cen anos” and created a moving collective wave. Chiño, our mascot, was also present throughout the day, accompanying participants both at the start on Príncipe and later at ABANCA Balaídos when it was time for the youngest runners.
Beyond the sporting aspect, Invasión Celeste by Profand once again stood out for its charitable impact. Participants had the opportunity to make voluntary donations during registration, which were matched by Grupo Profand, the event’s main sponsor. All funds raised will be fully allocated to Asociación CTNNB1 España, supporting research and assistance for children affected by this severe neurodevelopmental disorder.
Once again, the Celta community demonstrated its commitment, unity, and ability to turn sport into a powerful tool for solidarity and civic pride.
