Fredi Álvarez has extended his contract with Celta and will remain part of the club’s structure until June 2028. This renewal ensures the continuity of a project that has made history and will allow the Celta coach to lead Celta Fortuna in their debut season in LaLiga Hypermotion.
This season, Fredi has once again demonstrated his ability to get the most out of the youth team. Under his leadership, Celta Fortuna achieved an unprecedented milestone by qualifying for the Segunda División promotion play-off final for the first time and culminating that journey with promotion to LaLiga Hypermotion. This success is built on the daily work of his entire coaching staff and the commitment and confidence in a model whose greatest strength lies in A Madroa.
With a long history within the club’s structure, Fredi knows the path taken by the players from A Canteira better than most. His commitment to accelerating the development of homegrown talent has been evident throughout the season, giving numerous youth players the opportunity to debut and establish themselves at Celta Fortuna, always with the aim of bringing them closer to the first team.
Now he will continue to captain this “icebreaker” in a historic season for Celta Fortuna that will compete for the first time in LaLiga Hypermotion with the same identity that has brought them this far: to compete, to develop, and to continue nurturing homegrown talent.
