Celta have completed the signing of Abdoulaye Faye as the club’s third addition of the summer transfer window. The centre-back joins on loan from Bayer Leverkusen to strengthen the Sky Blues’ defence ahead of an exciting new season.
The 21-year-old Senegalese defender, who stands 1.91 metres tall, developed at Diambars FC before making the move to European football in 2023 with Swedish side BK Häcken. After a loan spell at Örgryte IS, he returned to Häcken before signing for Bayer Leverkusen. Last season, he spent another loan spell with FC Lorient in Ligue 1, where he made 17 league appearances.
Faye stands out for his defensive strength, dominance in the air and, above all, his composure in possession and accuracy in passing. A player with great potential, he fits perfectly into Claudio Giráldez’s playing philosophy and will bring youth, talent and quality to the Celta defence.
