Celta began their training camp in Italy with a victory after beating Sassuolo 1-4 at the Stadio Ricci. A first-half goal from Iago Aspas and a second-half hat-trick from Hugo González earned the Celestes a win with a clear taste of the academy
The first half was dominated by Celta. Claudio Giráldez’s side controlled possession and the rhythm of the game for long spells, spending much of the time in the opposition half. Their work was rewarded in the 21st minute with a well-built move in which Ferran Jutglà dropped deep to receive, laid the ball off to Williot Swedberg, and the Swedish forward found Iago Aspas, who finished calmly to make it 0-1, the scoreline at half-time.
After the break, Celta’s start was somewhat less consistent. The team continued to take the initiative, although with less control, and a small lapse allowed Sassuolo to equalise in the 56th minute through Bakola Darril. The response came quickly after changes from the bench brought fresh energy to the side. That was when Hugo González stepped up, delivering a memorable performance. The Valencia-born forward scored three goals in just six minutes to seal the victory and complete the final 1-4 scoreline. With this hat-trick, the striker has now scored at least once in four different pre-season friendlies, confirming his excellent run of form.
With the win and positive feelings secured, Celta will now turn their attention to their second match in Italy, which will take place next Saturday, 8 August, against Napoli in Castel di Sangro, kicking off at 21:00h. The game will be available to watch live through Celta Media.
