The Uruguayan center-back arrives in Vigo after six and a half seasons with the Águilas, where he made over 200 official appearances and won three consecutive Liga MX titles, a Campeón de Campeones, and the Campeones Cup. In Mexico, he established himself as one of the most reliable defenders in the league thanks to his anticipation, his ability to cover large áreas and his clean distribution of the ball.

A product of Liverpool Montevideo’s youth academy, he made his professional debut in 2017 and moved to Mexican football in January 2020. A full international for Uruguay since 2022, he played in the 2024 Copa América and was part of the Uruguayan squad for the 2026 World Cup. At 27 years old, Cáceres arrives at his peak, having gained years of experience fighting for titles. This profile will bring solidity and experience to Claudio Giráldez’s defense in a demanding season, with the team competing in three competitions.

Celta welcomes Sebastián Cáceres and wishes him every success in this new adventure.
