Celta Fortuna left Almería empty-handed after facing a true giant of the division, a team that was playing in the First Division just two seasons ago and used its attacking prowess to decide the match with two goals in the opening 17 minutes.
Nico Melamed opened the scoring with a shot from the edge of the box, and Javi Muñoz extended the lead by finishing off a rapid counter-attack. For their part, the Celta reserves managed to bounce back from the setback; they took possession and pushed higher up the pitch, with Capdevila coming close to scoring when his shot struck the crossbar.
A worrying moment occurred shortly before halftime when Bernard Somuah had to leave the field on a stretcher after injuring his left ankle in an unfortunate incident. After the break, the introduction of youth player Mateo Sobral helped the team gain control and threaten an Almería side that was simply managing its lead. Óscar Marcos had the best chance to narrow the deficit, but his shot went wide across the face of the goal.
True to their identity, Celta Fortuna never stopped competing and searched until the very end for a way back into the match. They could not find a breakthrough against a seasoned and resourceful opponent, but they did gain another valuable lesson in a division that demands rapid growth.
