As Celtas have advanced to the third round of the Copa de la Reina after defeating Real Oviedo Femenino 3–1 this Wednesday at A Madroa. This was the team’s second-ever match in the competition; playing before a crowd of over 500, they secured their spot in the next round with goals from Iris Acevedo, María Nogueira and Andrea Albiol. Real Oviedo narrowed the gap in the final minutes, but the sky-blues held onto their lead to clinch qualification.
The next tie will take place on Wednesday, November 4, once again at A Madroa. As Celtas will face a First Division opponent, as this round sees the entry of the eight top-flight clubs that finished between ninth and fourteenth place last season. Their opponent will be revealed next Monday, October 5, at 4:30 PM during the draw in Las Rozas.
This will be As Celtas’ third match in the Copa de la Reina and another opportunity to continue making history.
