Celta will dedicate next Sunday, October 18, on the occasion of the match against Deportivo Alavés (4:15 p.m.), a very special matchday to the Celta Foundation, as part of an initiative under the slogan ‘A Match with Heart’, aimed at highlighting the work it carries out and its ability to generate a positive impact both on and off the pitch.
During the match, ABANCA Balaídos will become the setting for a tribute to all the people, associations and organisations that are part of the Celta Foundation’s work.
One of the most special moments will take place before kick-off, with the ceremonial kick-off by Celta Integra Zelnova, the recent champions of LaLiga Genuine, in recognition of a project that represents one of the club’s great examples of social commitment and which, for more than a decade, has used football as a tool for inclusion and transformation.
The social dimension of the matchday will also be present from the build-up to the game. The flag bearers and escort kids will be children belonging to different associations and to the Celta Integra Zelnova project, while the stands at ABANCA Balaídos will welcome representatives of some of the associations and organisations with which the Celta Foundation works throughout the year.
In addition, the first-team players will take to the pitch for their warm-up wearing a garment specially designed for the occasion, which will subsequently be auctioned to raise funds for the Celta Foundation.
The initiative will also include a Fila 0, an open donation channel for anyone wishing to make a financial contribution and directly support the projects developed by the Foundation.
A week to highlight football that transforms lives
‘A Match with Heart’ will not be limited to matchday. In the days leading up to Celta-Alavés, a programme of activities will bring the work of the Celta Foundation closer to the public and showcase some of its main projects.
Among the initiatives planned is the presentation of ABANCA Balaídos’ first sensory box for people with autism. The initiative has been developed in collaboration with the Autism Federation of Galicia, the Galician Football Federation and the Royal Spanish Football Federation, helping to move towards a more accessible and inclusive stadium and making the matchday experience easier for people with specific sensory needs.
The city of Vigo will also play a leading role in the celebrations through a photographic exhibition on Rúa do Príncipe, featuring images of some of the Celta Foundation’s main initiatives and showcasing the impact of its work over recent years.
Different activities will also be organised for social associations and organisations, including a special tour of the Celta museum, designed to bring the club’s history and the ABANCA Balaídos experience closer to groups with which the Foundation has maintained an ongoing relationship.
In this way, the club aims to turn the match against Alavés into much more than a day of competition: a meeting point to recognise, showcase and celebrate the work of all the people and organisations that make the Celta Foundation’s social mission possible.
