Abanca Balaídos hosted this morning the press conference introducing David Ferreiro as the new head coach of As Celtas. The Vigo-born coach was joined by Sergio Álvarez, advisor linked to the project, and Humberto Lede, coordinator of As Celtas, who gave him a warm welcome in his first appearance as the sky-blue team’s coach.
Ferreiro expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and the trust placed in him by the club, making it clear that he is eager to get started and already has “his mind focused on next season.”
During his appearance before the media, the Vigo-born coach reflected on the evolution of the project in recent years, explaining in detail how As Celtas is “growing tremendously, earning promotions, and developing players. I think that’s also very important, and we must continue along that path. Now my role is focused on performance, where we’ll have to compete while continuing to develop players at the same time.”
Speaking about the work carried out with the squad during these first few days, he described this stage as “the pre-preseason”, highlighting its importance in introducing concepts so that, when the players return from the summer break, they will already retain certain ideas. “This period is about keeping them active and speeding up processes ahead of the start of the new season.”
Finally, Ferreiro pointed to his previous knowledge of the club as one of his greatest strengths, considering the experience he has gained as a major advantage in taking on this challenge. “I’ve been here for two years and already know the structure, and that gives me tools to work better,” explained David, who begins this new chapter with enthusiasm and ambition.
