The Superior Sports Council (CSD) has awarded the Real Club Celta with the Gold Plate of the Royal Order of Sports Merit, as officially communicated through a Resolution of the Ministry of Culture and Sport published in the Official State Gazette (BOE). This is the highest distinction granted by sports in Spain, which the Vigo club receives with great pride in its centenary year.
This recognition values the merits and circumstances that occur in the sports and professional histories of individuals and entities, their sports successes, or their contribution to the development of Spanish sports.
“A hundred years of history, a hundred years of life. How many people behind those hundred years. Today I want to remember all the presidents, all the players, employees, fans. Those who are no longer with us, but would feel as proud of this recognition as we are”, said the president of RC Celta, Carlos Mouriño.
He highlighted that “it is a recognition of a trajectory whose culmination is today, with a club management recognized throughout Spain and a regularity in the First Division of 12 continuous years that only eight teams in the Spanish league can enjoy”.
The awarding of the Gold Plate of the CSD, the highest distinction awarded by the Spanish state, is a recognition of the history and present that should make all Celta supporters and the entire city proud,” concluded Carlos Mouriño.
