The first Estrella Galicia Award to the best RC Celta player of the season 2022/23 already has an owner. The academy player Gabri Veiga has been chosen by the sky blue fans as the best player of the Vigo team in September. Gabri, with increasing prominence, left in the matches he played fantastic moments, including his first goal with the first team, scored against Atlético de Madrid in the Civitas Metropolitano, or a splendid second half against Cádiz in Abanca Balaídos.
Gabri, who beat Iago Aspas and Larsen in the final phase of the voting, expressed his gratitude to Estrella Galicia and the sky blue team for the award and stressed that “I’m very proud, and also surprised because I wasn’t expecting it, but being an academy player, you’ve been seeing great players like Iago and Brais receive this award for years, and it makes me especially excited”.
After adding that this award has also come to him “thanks to his teammates, to the work we do every day”, Gabri analyzed last weekend’s match against FC Barcelona: “I’ll keep the sensations of the second half because of the way we competed against one of the best teams in the world. We have to draw positive conclusions that can help us this Sunday against another great rival”.
“It will be a difficult match against Real Sociedad, but we have the advantage of having the support of our fans, as we did against Betis, and we hope to get the three points”, concluded the academy player.
